What you will be doing
About the job:
As a Cloud Engineer you ensure the seamless operation of our services and production systems. Our team comprises years of experience in recommendation algorithms (BCCN Berlin) and Bioinformatics (HU-Berlin). We are taking a science-first approach to build a platform on which we can run clinical trials (A/B testing) matching patients – based on their behavioral profiles – to medically supportive content.
What you'll Do
Our infrastructure is deployed on AWS and managed via IaC tools Terraform and Pulumi, written in python. It includes a Django API for native apps, a CMS that we use to manage app content, various ETL pipelines feeding into an Amazon Redshift Data Warehouse, and numerous data processing tools that perform data analysis on pseudonymized data. We use a modern tech stack that leverages a number of Amazon services (e.g. Kinesis, Elasticache, ECS, SFN, Lambda, SNS, Redshift, RDS, Glue, DMS) alongside other technologies like Dagster, Metaflow, Airbyte, Elasticsearch, and Celery
This is an excellent opportunity to work on the intersection of cloud and data engineering.

- Collaborate across teams within the Tech department to find the best solutions to infrastucture problems
- Reduce operational toil through automation and observability tooling
- Share domain knowledge through documentation, demos, technical presentations, and incident reviews
- Optimise data processing tools and reduce execution times of ETL pipelines
- Transition Infrastructure as Code (IaC) repositories from Terraform to Pulumi
